Club Receives EnviroClub Award

The Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast was presented with a Silver EnviroClub Award at the Rotary District 9780 Conference held in Mount Gambier on 16th & 17th March 2024. The award is co-ordinated by the District 9780 Environment Committee in support of Rotary International’s focus on improving the world’s environment.

Club members have collected rubbish on land and in creeks, made bee and insect hotels from recycled materials and made bird and bat nesting boxes for installation at Rotary Centennial Park. The park is a major project we are transforming from a weedy paddock into a useable treed oasis by planting trees, grasses and flowering indigenous plants to increase natural habitat.

On one of the clubs’ regular trips to Ambon, Indonesia we donated recycled footy boots to a soccer club, gave caseloads of hospital supplies to a poorly funded community hospital and donated books to the junior levels of a school where the principal wants to start teaching English.
