MPPS Hour of Power 2

On Wed 21st Oct 2026, 11 Club members repeated the activity we enjoyed with Mount Pleasant Primary School in June. After our last event, there was a great deal of excitement in the school anticipating our visit. Several students were keen to show us how their plants had grown.

For the ‘Hour of Power’ senior students with the assistance of Rotarians, worked enthusiastically on the school’s garden beds for an hour before lunchtime. Areas that had been replanted at the last event were weeded, fed and more plants added to fill gaps. The sensory garden weeded and more plants added and, as suggested by some students, the herb garden was updated.

Following the ‘Hour of Power’ Rotarians barbecued hundreds of sausages and onions to provide all students and staff with lunch. A gold coin donation from students for the sausages and a small contribution from Rotary raised funds for the ‘Make a Wish’ Foundation. The sausages were in high demand, with many children having several sausages.

Rotarians are looking forward to having a similar event in the new school year.

Many Thanks to Ted and Rosemary Waghorne and June Driscoll for organising the event.
