Sunday 26th July '26 was National Tree Day and it was embraced by the Rotary Club of Wendouree Breakfast with members planting trees, continuing to work towards creating a community park that will benefit Lucas and the wider Ballarat residents wellbeing, contribute to wildlife habitat and become an important area for pollinators.

Large indigenous species of eucalyptus were chosen for this planting bee – trees that over time will become features of the park with coloured bark, flowers and varied leaf shapes. Large swathes of shade will be created allowing air to cool as it passes through the site.

Today, Rotarian June was festooned with a stake as "Queen June of Dirt". The presenter was Rotarian Karen. While committed to working to help people and improve the world, fun and friendship is an important aspect of being a Rotarian. Today was fun.

Rotary Centennial Park is on the corner of Ballarat Link Road and Remembrance Drive, Cardigan (Opposite Lucas Shopping Centre). All are welcome to visit the park and watch it progress over time.
