Tom - New Member Speaks

On Wednesday 1st Nov 2023 we heard more from Tom, not only one of our newest members, but our youngest club member - much to Huy's disappointment.
Everyone was pleased to hear Tom's comment (said very dimplomatically), that although a number of our members were more than twice his age, he didn't feel that has made any difference to how he was welcomed and any discussion he's had with club members.
Tom informed us that he's from the country, born and raised in Albury, the youngest of 3, with a brother and sister. Married to Madeline, they have a young daughter Olive.
Active in the local community, and a passionate Water Polo player, Tom held many committee & junior team coaching roles.
Tom then said goodbye to all these commitments when he moved to Melbourne for work shortly after completing his degree. Tom took up the role of Sport Development Officer at Water Polo Victoria – a role which he held for 2 years.
Tom then shifted into State Government, holding a variety of roles across different levels in Community Sport Infrastructure over roughly 7 years, before landing with Regional Development Victoria as the Visitor Economy lead for the Grampians region.
Tom & family moved to Ballarat in 2022 and has already become involved with various organisations.
Tom loves to keep busy, giving back to others and the community. Tom expressed eagerness to join a community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact in the world. I look forward to contributing my skills, knowledge and time to the organisation’s mission of making the world a better place.
We welcome Tom to the club, and look forward to working with him on various Rotary projects.
